Two crews from Haden Cross alongside crews from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill were called to Hill Street in Lye following reports of a fire at around 6.39pm.

The crews arrived at the scene six minutes later and used hose reels to tackle what the service described as a severe house fire.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "Crews from Stourbridge, Haden Cross and Brierley Hill are currently in attendance at a House Fire on Hill Street, Lye Stourbridge.

"Please avoid area and travel with caution."

The fire was confirmed as out by around 8pm, with several appliances which were burned and damaged lying outside of the house, while the front door was boarded up and several of the windows were open, with a faint smell of burning in the air.

A local resident, who asked not to be named, said he had seen the fire engines outside the house.

Several of the windows were left open following the fire

He said: "I heard a noise and looked outside to see four fire engines and some smoke, as well as the fire crews bringing out bits of furniture that were burned.

"I don't know the family who live there, but I've seen them enough times and I hope they're all ok."
